Magnetic speed sensor rings play a critical role within the interconnected sensors and control systems used in much of today’s highly sophisticated hydraulic equipment.
From industrial presses and other heavy machinery to common forklifts and hydraulic cylinders, magnet rings facilitate real-time speed/directional control and sensing, as well as precise counting and incremental encoder functions. Some specific sensor uses include Hall effect, reed switch, and magneto resistive sensors.
Essentially, Temper’s magnet rings are a relatively simple, cost-effective, more precise sensing solution when compared to the conventional method of gear teeth and tone ring configurations. Designed and manufactured in the USA, our products stand above the competition in terms of quality, compatibility, and long-term performance.
Custom Industrial Magnet Rings Engineered for Your Specific Application
Magnetic ring sensors are employed across a wide range of consumer hydraulic devices, commercial equipment and industrial machinery, so there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. Temper’s ring magnets are available in numerous magnetic pitch options to allow for better customization and enable you to meet specific speed and position-sensing requirements.
With more than 55 years of experience in the industry, we can assist you in choosing the ideal specifications to accommodate your unique end product, use case, or operational environment. Our ring magnets are available with pole spacing up to 0.125”, including custom spacing options. With ring sizes ranging from 2” to 60” and polar widths designable down to 0.06”, we can provide the ideal component for virtually every hydraulic equipment application.
High-Performance Magnet Speed Sensor Rings for Harsh Environments
Temper’s ring magnets are manufactured using precise multi-pole resolutions housed within a high-strength stainless steel shell assembly. This robust construction will withstand extremely tough operational conditions and harsh environments that modern hydraulic equipment often contends with – especially in the industrial space.
Our rings are designed to reliably perform in temperatures up to 250°, as well as withstand high-pressure environments and many corrosive materials. At Temper, it isn’t enough to manufacture a magnet ring that works with high accuracy – it also has to do so reliably every time the device is powered on, regardless of the operational conditions.
What are magnetic speed sensor rings, and how do they work?
Just as the name sounds, these are seemingly simple magnetic ring-shaped components. However, we produce each assembly with extremely close tolerances and precise magnetic specifications using specialized materials. The magnet itself gives accurate feedback to the operator or control system by using the specified pole spacing as a counting mechanism relative to the rotational speed.
In terms of fitment, Temper rings are low-profile and designed for quick installation onto a shaft or axle with a simple press-fit process. Once the ring is in place it’s integrated with the device’s larger electromagnetic sensor/control systems, facilitating many sophisticated data-driven functions that have become critical in the operation of today’s hydraulic equipment.
